Ground Prep When Needed
If the yard needs it, or if the customer wants it, we can prep the ground for better water flow, cleaner rock depth, and a more even finish. Some rock jobs are straightforward installs, while others need grading, cleanup, or base correction first. We'll explain what makes sense before the estimate is finalized.
Clean Desert Rock Finish
Defined edges where rock meets turf, pavers, walls, and walkways — not a rough scatter line. We set clean borders and lay material to a consistent depth so the finished yard reads sharp and intentional.
Built for Arizona Yards
Material matched to the yard — DG, decorative rock, or gravel chosen for the look, the use, and the space. We work with the colors and types common across Phoenix and the East Valley, including most standard HOA rock.

“We're really happy with how our backyard turned out. We wanted something clean and modern but still low maintenance, and Chris nailed it. The pergola and shade sail make a huge difference, especially with the Arizona sun, and the pavers and turf came out exactly how we pictured.”

Services
Rock Installation Services We Offer
Full yard installs, pathways, garden beds, and accent features across the Phoenix East Valley.

Full Yard Rock Installation
Replace bare dirt, dead grass, or existing worn-out rock across the full front or back yard. We remove old material, prep the ground, and install fresh DG or decorative rock from edge to edge.

Desert Ground Cover / DG
Decomposed granite as a full ground cover — compacts firm underfoot, drains fast after rain, and holds the natural Arizona desert look without irrigation or ongoing maintenance.

Rock + Yard Upgrade Combo
Rock planned and installed alongside turf, pavers, block walls, plants, or lighting as part of a single yard build. One crew, one schedule, one project.

Pathways
Rock or DG pathways through the yard, garden, or side yard. We form the path layout, set clean edges, and finish with your choice of material — defined borders, firm underfoot.

Garden Beds
Rock fill and borders for garden beds — the right material around plants, trees, or landscaping features. Clean edges and material matched to the bed so water moves through without washing out.

Accent Features
Decorative rock in focal areas — around plants, trees, water features, or entry areas. Adds texture and visual contrast without adding maintenance.

Questions
Rock Installation — Common Questions
What are the benefits of installing rock?
Rock is low maintenance — no watering, no mowing, and minimal upkeep once it's in. It gives your yard a clean, finished look that fits naturally in Arizona. With weed barrier underneath, it keeps weeds from breaking through for years. Rock also reduces the water demand of your yard significantly and holds up through Arizona heat, monsoon rain, and regular foot traffic. It works well in both front and back yards — one of the most versatile materials we install.
What's the difference between decomposed granite and decorative rock?
Decomposed granite (DG) is finely crushed granite that compacts firm underfoot — it's the most common rock ground cover in Arizona yards. Decorative rock includes larger, rounder stones like river rock, pea gravel, or crushed cobble — used more for visual texture, accent areas, or drainage channels. We'll walk you through which works better for your yard and how to layer them if you want contrast.
Do you include weed barrier?
In many cases, yes, if it makes sense for the project and the customer wants it. Weed barrier can help reduce weeds from below, but it does not mean you'll never get weeds. In Arizona, wind can blow seeds, flowers, and debris on top of the fabric, and weeds can still grow in that material over time. We'll explain when weed barrier makes sense and include it clearly in your written estimate.
How long does a rock install take?
Most single-area installs wrap in 1–2 days. Full yard installs with demo, regrading, and barrier typically take 2–3 days. Combo builds — rock paired with turf, pavers, or other work — are quoted with a full project timeline. We'll give you a schedule in writing before we start.
Can you match existing HOA rock color or type?
Usually yes. We work with suppliers that carry the most common Arizona HOA rock colors and types — tan DG, brown gravel, golden fines, and most standard river rock. If you know the color name or have an HOA approval document, bring it to the estimate and we'll confirm availability.
What about drainage — will water pool in rock?
A properly graded rock install drains better than grass. We slope away from the home and plan for natural flow on every job. Rock laid without proper grading — or on top of hard caliche without the right barrier prep — can pool. We assess drainage as part of every estimate and address it before the install, not after.
Can you combine rock with turf or pavers on the same project?
Yes — most of our larger rock installs are part of a full yard build with turf, pavers, plants, or block walls. We plan everything together so grading, transitions, and edges all work as one system. Doing it as a combined project saves mobilization cost and avoids grading mismatches that happen when different crews work the same yard separately.
